How to Clean Grease Off Top of Kitchen Cabinets
Contents
There are 5 natural ways to do this task and 1 commercial way to get it done.
1. Hot Water & White Vinegar
You will need a 50-50 solution here. The hot water will break down the grease and the vinegar is acidic which helps remove grease as well. Together they make an unbeatable combination.
Put the solution in a spray bottle and just spray it onto your cabinets as you go. Or you can spray ahead a little bit as the solution will need 3 to 5 minutes to soak into the grease.
When that time frame is over, just take a clean rag or two and wipe the grease away. You can let the cabinets air dry or take some paper towels to them.
2. Salt & White Vinegar
This is a unique combination, but it seems to work for some people. Just mix enough vinegar and salt together to make a nice paste. Then take an old toothbrush and dip it into the paste. Put a lot on the toothbrush, you do not have to be conservative here.
Once the paste is on the brush, start cleaning your cabinets. This method will take some time as the brush is small and you may have a lot of cabinets inside your kitchen. When you are done scrubbing, wipe the cabinets down with a damp cloth.
You can save this method for those stubborn grease stains.
3. Citrus Oil Multipurpose Cleaner
This is an all-natural cleanser that works well on grease. It may be about as easy as the vinegar and water method. Put the cleaner in a spray bottle if it isn’t already in one and spray your cabinets. Then wait for 5 minutes.
The instructions say you need hot water so dampen the cloth with that liquid and begin wiping. The two elements should cut through the grease and leave your cabinets nice and clean.
You can again let the cabinets air dry or wipe them down with a clean dry cloth. It is up to you which way you choose to go.
4. Baking Soda & Lemon Juice
You can mix 2 parts warm water, 1 part baking soda, and the juice from one lemon in a pot or bowl or a spray bottle. If you use the former method, pour the ingredients into a spray bottle when done.
Then like other methods spray the mixture over your cabinets and wait 5 minutes. When that time is done, dampen a soft sponge with clean water and begin to wipe. Once you are finished scrubbing, wipe dry with another dry clean cloth.
The lemon juice will be a nice air freshener as well. Just make sure to get all the solution off your cabinets.
5. Dish Soap & Warm Water
Liquid dishwashing soap usually has grease-fighting ingredients in them. They take the grease off your dishes, and they can do it for your kitchen cabinets as well. All you will need to do is mix a few drops of the dishwashing liquid into a bowl of warm water and mix well.
Dampen a soft sponge with the mixture and ring dry if it gets too wet. Then start wiping your cabinets. make sure to repeat that technique until all your cabinets have been cleaned.
Let the cabinets air dry but if you are n a hurry, use paper towels to dry them.
6. Commercial Cleaners
We won’t spend much time on this as all you need to do is follow the instructions on the can or box. Then to remind you, do not forget to clean the tops of your cabinets with any of these methods.
