How to Clean a Linoleum Floor

There are two ways to keep this flooring material nice and clean. There is the basic general cleaning, then there is get all the dirt through the deep cleaning. here are the steps to use for both methods:

1. General Cleaning

  1. Use a dry microfiber mop on your floors every day. This will remove loose dust and dirt.
  2. Use a vacuum once a week to get harder to remove dirt and debris.
  3. Use vinegar and hot water mixture with a dash of dishwashing liquid to damp mop the floor. When done, empty the bucket and then fill it with clean water and rinse the floor.
  4. Let the floor dry before anyone walks on it.

2. Deep Cleaning

Step 1. Gather Your Materials- You will need a soft bristle brush, vacuum cleaner, microfiber mop, bucket, hot water, baking soda, vinegar, dishwashing liquid, and old towels.

Step 2. Start Sweeping- It is essential to get all the loose dirt and dust off the floor. If there are pieces of furniture on the floor remove those and any other items from the room or hallway. You can use a vacuum instead of a broom to get the dirt that lies between the cracks

Step 3. Start the Cleaning Process- You do this by sprinkling baking soda over the floor. Then mix a gallon of hot water with a cup of vinegar and a few drops of dishwashing liquid in a bucket.

Step 4. Mop the Floor- Take your time doing this as you will need to stop and use the bristle brush to clean up any hard to remove stains or deep-down dirt from high traffic areas.

Step 5. Rinse the Floor- Once you have finished the first round of mopping, empty the bucket and rinse it out well. Then refill the bucket with clean water. Don’t forget to rinse the mop clean as well. Once that is done, rinse the floor to remove baking soda and soap residue

Step 6. Dry the Floor- Now you can use old towels to accomplish this, or you can just let the floor dry naturally. After it has dried, put any furnishings and other items back into the room
