They say that you need more than just a small opening for the baking soda to work. That is why some people use the brown paper lunch bag option or they place the baking powder in a small open-top bowl or other containers.
You can put it on a large plate and spread it around a little to get maximum performance. Once you decide on the container, you should put the baking soda at the back of the fridge, so it is out of the way of your regular fridge activities.
Also, you can put a small portion in your freezer to keep it smelling nice and fresh all the time. Replace this portion as often as you replace the portion you place in your fridge. Don’t forget to sprinkle some in your vegetable crispers.
